Turn your painting mistakes around and get the painting outcomes you want

It’s okay! We have all done it.

Done what?!

Umm, errr…Created a painting that doesn’t work or let’s us down.

And worse still, then have that mean something about our ability to paint.

How is it that the results of a painting can be so connected to our feelings sending us on an emotional rollercoaster?

The truth is …Mistakes teach us. Annoying right?!

They can be easily turned around so we feel great about our paintings.

Mistakes show us where to go next when we understand what to do with them.

These Australian gumnuts are full of beautiful colour and were a challenge in terms of editing background details and blending the colours to capture the forms.

Turning mistakes around

In my Blooms Painting Method, which I teach online and in person, there is a whole sequence about turning painting mistakes around so you come into power in your painting instead of being left with a dud artwork you would rather hang in the toilet or garage. EEEEK!

I’ve seen this so many times where the student feels the mistakes are unfixable. But only for a moment once I demo what to do next.

At this point I teach how to stay in that moment and be comfortable with being uncomfortable, not to take it personally, and to trust my BLOOMS FINESSING STEPS to paint your way out of it steadily and actually pretty quickly!

The steps are specific and easy to apply to your painting to fix typical issues like;

If your painting is dull,

if your painting is too busy,

if your painting is too flat,

if the colours are wrong,

if your shapes are up S**t creek,

if your paint texture looks too rough or too thin

and whatever other issues you want to add in….

SIGH…. YES, all of this IS fixable.

LEARN MY SEVEN STEPS & GET YOUR PAINTINGS BACK ON TRACK

The way I teach there are seven specific mistakes that students make.

There are seven specific solutions they can apply to their paintings to quickly bring the painting home to roost with pride.

There are a host of other tips I teach which reduce you getting into a mess in the first place! I literally teach my Blooms Painting Method of how to take the pain out of painting to get the best results more quickly.

And guess what? Most of these corrections are for aspects that are NATURAL to your painting developing at the foundation stage and nothing to be taken personally in any case.

Once students understand the process, they relax into it and enjoy the specific steps of the process to finish the painting with confidence.

Babs came back for a second Blooms Painting Workshop now with more time to spend on her painting and has not put the brushes down since!

BLOOMS PAINTING WORKSHOP DATES & MY LIVE ONE DAY WORKSHOP

Christine faced her fears to create these two stunning paintings. She had previously had a disappointing experience with another Melbourne art teacher that almost put her off painting for good. I am pleased to say Christine got the information she needed to get her painting techniques sorted out from my Blooms Painting Workshop and has not put down the brushes since, and is creating beautiful paintings. She's got herself on track!

It’s normal to feel nervous before taking a workshop and wonder can I really do this? I was there myself a long time ago. That’s why I have developed my NO FAIL Painting Method for students.

Three of my Blooms students, SUE, VICTORIA & LYN who have gone on to become selling artists and enjoy further training with my Make Money From Art Program after taking the Sydney Blooms Painting Workshop.

Sue (left) is a nurse but finds time to paint and has been creating some stunning work recently surpassing her own ideas of what is possible to achieve with painting, and is ready to launch. Victoria (Centre) had some art skills already but was looking for a refresh and reboot and learning new skills. Victoria is a selling artist and has been producing stunning work. She has just transformed her life further by buying a stunning property with space for her painting studio.

All three took my Sydney Blooms Painting Workshop Lyn (right) is selling her beautiful and distinctive floral art, and is living the dream too. When she started, like Sue, she was a beginner artist of no previous painting experience. Hard to believe a short two years later when her paintings look pro and sell regularly! This is what learning to paint can be about. Or just do it for you because that feels great too.
