When is it time to put the brushes down and declare a work finished?
Today I enjoyed a visit to see the exhibition of the work of female French Impressionist Berthe Morisot at Musee D’Orsay. For many paintings from private collections it was the first time in 100 years the paintings had been shown and the first Morisot exhibition since 1941 devoted to this artist.
I’ve shown here a few paintings less finished than others as it was her style to not fully block in every canvas thereby maintaining a freshness . It raised questions of when was a work finished on its day and afterwards.
I personally love the sketchy approach to objects less important to the artist. It creates an intense focus not to mention loads of movement .
A gorgeous show if you have the chance to catch it in Paris .

She has been one of my favorite impressionist painters for many years. Her sister was one of her main models. Love following your art filled life. Happy traveling Morva

I find her work mesmerizing. Her backgrounds are so abstract, before we knew abstract!! Great share!!

The other evening I visited my sunflowers planted fairly hastily from seed in June in France, at my old farmhouse gradually getting a reno. That’s the granges that come with the house in the background. Eventually we will have an additional paint studio and printmaking area for French Art School.
We made a large veggie patch in the field on the last visit. The seeds were watered by a young boy locally and now the flowers are bursting forth with perfect timing . Two more varieties about to pop.

Beautiful Jac! There is a story going around facebook that on dreary dull days Sunflowers turn toward each other to draw energy. I was wondering if anyone has witnessed this??

My DAD grew these on the farm between the house & the road —- simply so we could watch them faithfully follow the SUN —- and overnight their beautiful heads turned to wait for SUNRISE —- a most wonderful memory 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 I hope yours return season after season to SHINE THEIR LIGHT 🌞🌻🌞

Love sunflowers 🌼😍

Gorgeous

Tres magnifique
