Hours daily 9am-5.30pm
Join me as we explore Coastal themes to create a collection of paintings in just 5 days. Explore easy to do painting Blooms Freestyle techniques that explore working in acrylics and also water mixable oils.
From small scale studies to a large masterpiece we use a range of techniques & tools all demonstrated before your eyes in real time so you can do it too! All my support on hand to help you get the best out of your painting.
NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
DAY 1- PAINTING WARM UP
VENUE ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Paint a series of 6 paintings in acrylics on canvas boards, with demonstrations taking students through a number of useful painting techniques, from learning the summer coastal colour palettes to blending, using a variety of tools to explore & capture coastal themes, how to paint clouds, water, pathways, flora and more.
A great warm up for our week as well as producing artworks to treasure.
As well as morning and afternoon teas, tea and coffee included, all your art supplies are also included!
Includes 2 white picture frames for your favourite pieces.
DAY 2- PAINT CLOUDS & BEACH PATHWAYS
AT OUR STUDIO AT ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Enjoys choosing from lots of great references to paint from as we add a little more detail and info to our paintings and increase the size of the canvases today.
Explore painting clouds, beach pathways and learning more about day time colour palettes and dusk colour palettes.
Paint two paintings today. For one of the paintings we will use water mixable oils. I will show you how!
All equipment, and supplies provided so all you need to do is arrive and enjoy painting.
DAY 3- PAINT TWO MID SIZE PAINTINGS INCLUDING COASTAL FLORA, CLOUDS & COASTAL SUBJECTS AND ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUES
VENUE BASE: OUR STUDIO AT ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Today, we go to a mid-size series of paintings. We explore coastal flora subject matter, including banksia and gum nuts, boats and beachboxes.
All equipment and art supplies included.
DAY 4– MORNING SESSION PAINTING
Paint colourful beach boxes, adding to your coastal painting series.
Learn techniques to keep the painting fresh whilst capturing detail!
AFTERNOON SESSION – We lay the foundations and start our big coastal painting of a beach path, exploring some alternative tools.
VENUE: STUDIO AT ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Today enjoy a morning session creating a beach box painting or another subject choice from our selection.
For the afternoon session, learn about how to use a variety of tools to get the foundations of your BIG COASTAL PAINTING down quickly. No drawing or painting skills required. This is so much fun and highly productive.
Full demonstrations and guidance including the colour palette for your painting, the supply of the subject matter and how to get those freed up marks, demonstration of alternate tools, layer of colour and tones, and building a rich surface.
We will start the painting in the afternoon then continue it and finish it the next day.
The large size will be a canvas of 30 x 40 inches. This sits neatly in a car. We will work in acrylic so it will be dry to take home.
DAY 5- Continue our BIG COASTAL PAINTING AND FOLLOWING THE DEMOS WITH JAC TO COMPLETE THE COASTAL MASTERPIECES!
IN THE AFTERNOON, FINISH THE LITTLE DETAILS ON THE BIG PAINTING. VARNISH ANY OTHER PIECES THAT ARE DRY. FINISH BY 5.45pm
If you are travelling by plane I can assist AFTER the class finishes, and everyone’s paintings are done, to help you pack your painting.
BYO bubble wrap and tape. Box supplied. Paintings finish by 4.30pm. Everyone contributes to giving a hand to straighten up the room and class finishes after photos by 5.30-5.45pm on the last day. Everyone takes home a range of stunning coastal paintings to show off and enjoy!
Learn how to build your COASTAL painting and bring it to a finish with some clever NO FAIL techniques.
Optional to enjoy fish and chips and a photography session capturing the dusk colours on the beach on an evening that suits everyone and the weather.
Transport students own. Accommodation students own to arrange.

ACCOMMODATION NEAR OUR ROSEBUD VENUE
As many students will be travelling on their own, you might like toi share with an accommodation with another student. If you would like to be put in touch with another student seeking accommodation with a view to booking something together, let my booking manager JO TREZONA know when she sends your receipt to you and if there are others happy to share, you can work out an option yourselves if happy to be put in touch with each other. Air bnb has lots of homes that are great to rent and it can be more economical to get a share house.
