Hours daily 9am-5.30pm
Join me for exploring Coastal themes and creating a collection of paintings in just 5 days. Explore easy to do painting Blooms Freestyle techniques that explore working in acrylics and also oils.
From small scale studies to a large masterpiece in oils using a range of techniques all demonstrated before your eyes in real time so you can do it too! All my support on hand to help you get the best out of your painting.

A Note About Dietary Needs
At Blooms Painting Workshop lunches are supplied and at French art school, lunches and many dinners are supplied. Whilst we are able to cater for dairy free, vegetarian and the gluten-free, we are unable to meet the needs of celiacs, FOD-MAP, those allergic to nuts or to those where certain foods may cause medical conditions. If you have for a strong preference for no mushrooms, bacon or ham, capsicum or beans we can most likely assist you. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
DAY 1- PAINTING WARM UP
VENUE ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Paint a series of 6 paintings in acrylics on canvas boards, with demonstrations taking students through a number of useful painting techniques, from learning the summer coastal colour palettes to blending, using a variety of tools to explore & capture coastal themes, how to paint clouds, water, pathways, flora and more.
A great warm up for our week as well as producing artworks to treasure.
Lunch, refreshments, & art supplies, included.
OPTION TO JOIN JACQUELINE ON THE NEARBY FORESHORE AFTER CLASS AND CAPTURE THE CHANGING LIGHT WITH OUR CAMERAS
Includes 2 white picture frames for your favourite pieces.
DAY 2- PAINT OUTDOORS & AT OUR STUDIO
VENUE OUTDOOR TO BE ADVISED AND OUR STUDIO AT ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
EN PLEIN AIR DAY; The outdoor component is weather dependant. Own Car required or ride share with the group or Jac .
If the weather doesn’t suit to paint outdoors, we will work from the comfort of the studio. The group can decide on the day. If we don’t take this session and paint at the studio we will still visit the nearby foreshore and find painting inspiration to work from.
Paint two mid-size paintings today and enjoy being on the doorstep of the coastal environment. Make sure your phone camera is charged up!
All equipment, supplies and catering provided so all you need to do is arrive and enjoy painting.
DAY 3- PAINT TWO MID SIZE PAINTINGS INCLUDING COASTAL FLORA, CLOUDS & COASTAL SUBJECTS AND ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUES

Today, learn about oils, explore oil impasto and acrylic impasto in a series of mid size paintings. We explore coastal flora subject matter, including banksia and gum nuts, and how to paint clouds or paint from your photo reference from the previous day.
All equipment, art supplies and catering included.
DAY 4– MORNING SESSION PAINTING
Paint colourful beach boxes, adding to your coastal painting series.
Learn techniques to keep the painting fresh whilst capturing detail!
AFTERNOON SESSION After a delicious lunch, we start our big coastal painting and lay the foundations.
VENUE: STUDIO AT ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Today enjoy a morning session creating a beach box painting. After our lunch together, enjoy learning about how to use a variety of tools to get the foundations of your BIG COASTAL PAINTING down quickly. No drawing or painting skills required. This is so much fun and highly productive.
Full demonstrations and guidance from the colour palette for your painting, the supply of the subject matter and how to get those freed up marks, demonstration of alternate tools, layer of colour and tones, and building a rich surface in oils.
We will start the painting in the afternoon then continue it and finish it the next day.
Please advise of the largest painting size you can fit in your car face up – sizes options will be provided beforehand and supplied at the workshop. The largest size will be 36 x 4 inches or 90 x 120cm and there will be canvases of 30 x 40 inches.
DAY 5- Continue our BIG COASTAL PAINTING AND FOLLOWING THE DEMOS WITH JAC TO COMPLETE THE COASTAL MASTERPIECES! LUNCH OUT AND IN THE AFTERNOON FINISH THE LITTLE DETAILS ON THE BIG PAINTING. VARNISH ANY OTHER PIECES THAT ARE DRY. FINISH BY 5.30pm
VENUE BASE: OUR STUDIO AT ROSEBUD GIRL GUIDES HALL
Learn how to build your COASTAL painting and bring it to a finish with some clever NO FAIL techniques. Then we enjoy lunch at the nearby Greek cafe & restaurant.
After lunch we take care of any little details and finishing touches including to our other works plus varnishing or framing. We pack up at leisure . Workshop closed by 6pm.
Includes all art supplies, equipment, brushes and tools to keep, plastic sheeting for your car if you need it, palette, fold out aluminium easel to keep, catering and refreshments.
Transport students own. Accommodation students own to arrange.
